Title I Status

🏫 Title I Funding at Barbers Point Elementary

Barbers Point Elementary is proud to qualify for Federal Title I funding. Based on Hawaii Department of Education data, our school's low-income student baseline is 74%—well above the state's 47.2% threshold.

Because of this, we operate a Title I Schoolwide Program, which brings extra federal money directly into our classrooms to support every single student.

🌟 How Title I Dollars Help Our Students

  • 👩‍🏫 Extra Teaching Support: Pays for reading and math specialists, smaller instruction groups, and classroom aides.

  • 💻 Updated Supplies & Tech: Funds modern classroom technology, learning software, and updated books.

  • 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family Programs: Supports family workshops, learning nights, and resources to help you support your child at home.

📋 Why Annual Paperwork Protects Our School

To keep these resources coming and protect student safety, we ask every family to submit three quick forms each year:

  1. 🍎 Free & Reduced-Price Meal Applications

    • Why it matters: This confidential form determines our school’s Title I funding level and state grant allocations.

    • Family perks: Qualifies students for free or discounted meals and provides fee waivers for internet offers and youth programs.

  2. 📞 Accurate Registration & Contact Updates

    • Why it matters: Allows nurses and staff to reach you instantly in emergencies, manage medical needs, and deliver weather updates and report cards.

  3. 📝 Federal Survey Cards (Impact Aid)

    • Why it matters: Federal properties do not pay local property taxes. Impact Aid survey cards bring those lost tax dollars straight to our campus to hire teachers, buy supplies, and maintain facilities.
