Barbers Point Elementary
Principal’s Message

July 6, 2026
Aloha e nā ʻohana a me nā haumāna o Barbers Point [Aloha Barbers Point Families and Students],
It is with great excitement and a deep sense of honor that I introduce myself as the new Principal of Barbers Point Elementary (BPES)! I am thrilled to join this wonderful community and look forward to embarking on a new journey of growth, learning, and success together with all of you. I am deeply committed to ensuring our students receive high-quality education equipped with the rich resources they deserve. Together, we will ensure that this standard of excellence is realized every single day.
Before we look ahead, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to our previous Interim Principal, Mr. Aaron Okumura, and Temporarily Assigned Vice Principal, Dr. Michelle Suzuki. Their incredible dedication, commitment, and hard work these past two years have kept our school thriving and have laid a strong foundation upon which we will continue to build.
As your new principal, my core philosophy centers around providing our students with unique, rich, and meaningful educational experiences. I believe that our school should be a place that sparks curiosity, fosters creativity, and gets children genuinely excited to walk through the doors every single day. By offering dynamic and engaging opportunities both inside and outside the classroom, my goal is to inspire our students to be hopeful, confident, and enthusiastic about their futures.
It is my desire to work hand in hand with you to ensure our students have everything they need to thrive. My commitment to you is to provide transparent communication, timely information, and the resources necessary to best support your child’s individual needs. At the same time, we will work closely to support our dedicated staff, ensuring they have the tools to deliver the highest quality education.
Please know that my door is always open, and I welcome your feedback, ideas, and partnerships. I am ready to greet you all at our Back to School Meet and Greet night on July 30, and I cannot wait to officially welcome our students back for their first day on August 3. Together, as a united BPES family, we are going to make this an unforgettable and successful school year!
Me ka ʻoiaʻiʻo [Sincerely],
Mrs. Mariko Yorimoto, Barbers Point Elementary Principal
